Polar Bear

This spectacular giant can weigh a half a ton and stands over 8 feet high. Polar bears are found around coastal regions of the North Pole. The bears regularly travel on long journeys, swimming and snoozing as they wish. Cubs are born in snow dens in December or January and stay with their mother for two years. Protected by an international agreement, their numbers are thought to be stabilizing.
